Tiffani's Lullaby Layette

When I saw the Lullaby Layette pattern by Oliver + S, I knew anything from the set would be the perfect addition to my little girl's wardrobe. I loved the variety of garments that come with this pattern and chose the romper and pants as I knew she would get the most use out of them.

Girl Charlee Lullaby Layette by Oliver + S

Size Made: 6-12 months

I knew I wanted to use some of the new Girl Charlee knits that just arrived and I fell head over heels in love with the little foxes. Sewing this up with a knit was so easy and fun. The pattern instructions are clear and the construction was very clever. The pants went together super fast and the technique used for sewing the pockets was ingenious!

My little girl is 7 months old, so I made the 6-12 month size so they would fit her for a few months. They are a tiny bit baggy now, but I know that she will grow into them in no time at all.

The pants were definitely the easy part and went together quickly, but if I make this pattern again I might make the elastic a little tighter and shorten the pants just a little as they were still pretty big on her petite frame.

I love how loose and playful the romper fits. It's easy to put on and take off of a squirmy baby and is comfortable for her to go from play time to nap time. I decided to use one of the pre-made knit bias tapes we carry in the store to finish the neck line instead of making my own. I'm so glad that I did because they are so dang soft and easy to work with, not to mention how much time I saved.

I was slightly nervous about adding the placket to the romper, as I'd never made anything with one before, but as soon as I got to work it was easy-peasy. The pattern explained the process very well. It was easy to understand and very detailed. As long as you transfer the notches to line it all up, you will be in good shape.
