2015 Year in Review

What a whirlwind of a crafty year we've had! 2015 took us to new places, brought inspiring instructors to our shop, reunited us with dear friends, and saw the release of new Fancy Tiger Crafts patterns and Creativebug classes. We are so grateful for all the folks who are a part of Fancy Tiger Crafts - our staff and instructors who help us make our shop into the magical place that we love, and the customers who make it possible for us to continue to share our passion for all things crafty.

Throughout the year, we were honored to have loads of amazing instructors and authors visit the shop to share their love of crafts. We were visited by Lizzy House, Megan Schimek, Sherri Lynn Wood, Esther Rodgers, Amy Gibson, Jen Beeman of Grainline Studio, Christine Haynes, Adrianna Appl of Hey June and Allie Olson of Indiesew, Bristol Ivy, Jeane deCoster, Shannon Brinkley and Tula Pink! Bringing these world renowned and inspiring folks here to our craft community in Denver is a joy. We already have some plans in the works for 2016, starting with a very special knitting night in January with six of our favorite knitting designers, as well as a 2016 workshop with Lotta Jansdotter!

2015 brought the release of our second garment sewing pattern, the Fen Top and Dress, and we are thrilled that it has been received so enthusiastically by the sewing community. To see so many folks make and wear such beautiful versions of the pattern - what a great feeling!

In addition to Fen, we released four new patterns as free downloads for our customers. The Zocalo Quilt by local quilter extraordinaire Shawna Doering, my Arrowroot Mitts colorwork knitting pattern, the Quinn Cozy laptop and tablet sleeve by Katy Osterwald of ModularModular, and my Quarry Cap pattern in Brooklyn Tweed's newest bulky yarn. We hope you've enjoyed these little treats!

Jaime and I were also interviewed for three podcasts this year. In August, we were able to share our fiber journeys, thoughts on the wool community and dreams of handspinning tiger fluff with the sweet and thoughtful Ashley Yousling of Woolful. Earlier in the year Sandi Hazelwood interviewed Jaime on garment sewing for her podcast Crafty Planner in March. In February, on the While She Naps podcast Abby Glassenburg interviewed us along with Virginia of Gather Here, as we discussed the business of owning a craft shop, covering a bit of our history and behind the scenes tidbits.

You might know we love to travel. This year took us to San Francisco to shoot more Creativebug classes (some of which will be released in the coming year)...to Oregon and Northern California visiting the Romney sheep who produce our Heirloom wool...to Nashville to visit Anna Maria Horner's great shop, Craft South, for Denyse Schmidt's Single Girl Quilt workshop - plus we got to hang out with dear friends and crafty Nashville residents Karen Templer and Alexia Abegg...to Rhinebeck for the New York Sheep and Wool festival, where we spent the weekend with some of our very favorite sheep aficionados...to Vermont where we experienced the magic of Vermont apples and toured the amazing Green Mountain Spinnery...to Massachusetts where we were given a tour of one of the US's oldest continuously running mills, S&D Spinning, which spins our own Heirloom Romney yarn...an inspiring year of traveling!

What a year we've had, with adventures galore and many fantastic times shared with so many amazing people. We can't wait to see what 2016 holds for us! One thing we know for sure, 2016 will be a very special year, as it will be our 10 year anniversary this coming June. We hope you join us to celebrate and share in our adventures along the way! Happy New Year!
