Tiffani's Saltspring Dress

Tiffani recently welcomed a new baby, and my-oh-my, have we been crafting baby things around here! New momma Tiffani took some time to make herself a little treat too, the Saltspring Dress, a sweet and summery frock from Sewaholic Patterns. Tiffani has concluded it is the perfect dress for new moms, and we can see why, with its tie straps and easy-to-wear shape. Well, it's also mighty adorable on her! Here is Tiffani with more about her new dress...

Pattern: Saltspring Dress (Version A) by Sewaholic
Fabric: 2 1/4 yards Art Gallery Jersey - Gust of Leaves by April Rhodes
Size Made: 14
Modifications: Shortened bodice and straps, used knit fabric and omitted zipper

I had been wanting to make the Sewaholic Saltspring Dress for awhile, not only because it’s new mom nursing friendly, but also because it’s got a really great shape, with an elastic waist for comfort. I decided to use an Art Gallery jersey by April Rhodes called Gust of Leaves in silver.

I have a short torso, so I shortened the top by about an inch. I also shortened the tie straps by about three inches. Since I really wanted to make it out of a lightweight jersey, I omitted the back zipper so I could just pull it on and go.

The short length is perfect for my petite frame and the tie straps work great for nursing my little lady.

My new Saltspring will get me through the hot days of summer and into fall--it's easy enough to throw on a cardigan and boots to make this a perfect go-to dress for cooler weather. I can’t wait to make another in a flowy rayon or voile for next spring, too!
