Lauren's Capsule Cleridae

Michele Wang is the queen of cables! When her new Capsule book arrived at Fancy Tiger, I had dreams of a cabled cardigan. Once I saw all the patterns, I couldn't resist whipping up a quick hat before I invested in a bigger project. It seems I've been on a bit of a cable kick lately!

Cleridae Hat in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter Homemade Jam

Brooklyn Tweed is perfect for cabled projects! The structure creates beautiful stitch definition, even in darker colors, due to the fluff and tweedy look of the yarn. I decided to go with homemade jam for this hat because it is one of my all-time favorite colorways. I love how the reds and purples blend together and still look great with the majority of my wardrobe. It also seemed like a good choice to allow the cables to really pop.

This hat was simple if you're experienced in the ways of cabling. The pattern is easy enough to follow but not as easy to memorize. I really enjoyed knitting this and it went by quickly. I always feel projects go by faster when I'm reading from a chart. I've been wearing this hat non-stop since I finished it! I decided against the pompom and just went for a simpler look. I'm so excited about the end result!

I would definitely recommend this hat to someone who's looking for a new cable project or as a challenge to a beginner. If you choose any of the beautiful colorways from Brooklyn Tweed you won't be disappointed!
