Frock Blog Tour: Amber's Well Composed Top

The new Cotton and Steel rayon is a dream! A silky, lovely dream of a fabric. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few yards of Neon Pixel Print early and whipped up this Well Composed Blouse to share with you.

Pattern: Well Composed by Anna Maria Horner
Fabric: 2 1/2 yards Pixel Print in Neon Frock Rayon by Cotton + Steel (available for pre-order), 1/2 yard Textured Solid Neon (for piping)
Size Made: XS
Modifications: added flat piping to accentuate seams

The Cotton + Steel rayon fabric makes this drapey shirt extra comfy, yet also flattering. The sleeves on the Well Composed dress are an interesting construction--the front yoke is all part of the sleeve piece, and the sleeve joins the back with a raglan shape.

To accentuate this smart construction I made a neon piping, following the line of the yoke under the arm and up the raglan back. The gathers on the front bodice add some charm, and the rayon really shines in these drapey details.

I pre-washed and dried my fabric the same way I usually treat cotton fabrics. Like Jaime, I didn't even think about it--I am so used to working with cotton and linen. But there were no problems to see, and so I will continue to just wash this with the rest of my handmade things.

Cool, silky rayon is so pleasant to wear! I can't wait for all the rayons to get here, I have so many things I want to make! In the meantime I'll be wearing this lovely Frock top.
